In my series titled Hidden Gems I would like to introduce you to Susan the owner of Susies Suitcase!!
Susan would you share with my readers a little bit about yourself and your Etsy shop…
I work in a kids club in a gym. Little girls would always come in wearing the cutest tutus and I thought I could make one, so I did. My 28 yr old daughter was over and saw it and I told her I was going to make them and open an Etsy shop. She is very crafty and said ” I want to make some too!” So our shop began.
What first got you interested in your craft…..
I always wanted to open an Etsy shop but was looking for the right item to sell. I wanted it to be something I loved. Every job I’ve had has been working with kids in some way. When I got the idea for the tutu I knew that was it. It was fun, I could be creative and it was for children.
Please describe your creative process…
I use tulle and ribbon to make my tutus and always put a special embellishment on the waist. We make them in sizes newborn to size 7/8. We heat seal the ribbon to prevent fraying. We get so excited coming up with a new pattern or finding a special embellishment and creating ones for holidays.
Apart from creating things, what do you do…
I work at the kids club in the gym and watch a beautiful 3 yr old girl 2 full days a week.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us…
I am the mother of 3 and have a 1 yr old grandson who I adore!
