I am very excited to share with everyone a new Etsy shop!
Introducing Andrea Portillo of Clay City Charms!!
Andrea please tell us a little about yourself? I was born and raised in El Salvador in Central America. I met the love of my life during college in Texas and we get married this year! I live in Indiana because I am a Graduate Assistant and an athletic trainer for my school’s track and field team and finishing my masters degree. I love crafts and since undergrad, I did polymer clay charms. My students saw them this year and encouraged me to begin a shop and start selling 🙂 they give me ideas all the time and get so excited for me it’s cute.
Andrea what first got you interested in your craft?
I got interested in my crafts through one of my friends from undergrad who gave me a charm one day made out of clay. So I decided to give it a shot and fell in love! There’s an infinite number of things to create and to do, that’s why I love clay. I incorporate acrylic paint and jewelry materials to create different things. I like creating charms and doing something with them and to them like key chain charms, pendants, fridge magnets, and I am currently working on creating picture frames with them too.
Andrea apart from creating things, what do you do? I love working out! I lift weights and run. I love to travel and spending time with my family. I travel a lot with my team, taking care of all of the athletes off and on the road. My job is to keep them healthy and help them prevent and recover from athletic related injuries. I also love makeup and watching bloggers on YouTube talk about all of the amazing things you can do! I am trilingual 😉 I speak Spanish, English, and Portuguese. Languages have opened so many doors to seeing cool places and meeting tons of cool people too.
I asked Andrea if she could make me some “Raven” stitch markers for knitting, and being great at customer service she said sure! And within a few days she had sculpted, baked, and painted the cutest little Ravens you have ever seen. She immediately sent them out and I received them within two days, and they are incredibly cute.
Working with Andrea was a pleasure and I am sure she can create anything your heart would desire. Please take the time and check out her shop, and see all her amazing creations!!
